Invitation:

The International American Studies Association will be holding its Second World Congress in conjunction with the Groupe de Recherche sur les Discours des Amériques / Research Group on the Discourse of the Americas of the University of Ottawa. We invite you to participate in this international conference to share the results of your research and to gather with specialists working in the multiple disciplines on the American Hemisphere. It is hoped that the conference will foster discussion based on practical and theoretical interdisciplinary analysis, and on comparative approaches to intercultural movements and cultural transfers.

Publication

We are considering a variety of means for the distribution of Conference papers: In addition to a published version of some of the Conference papers (texts in French or in English) (through the evaluation committee) in a book of about 400 pages by the University of Ottawa Press (editors, A. Chanady, G. Handley, P. Imbert, D. Kadir)(12 pages double-spaced including bibliography and notes), we foresee publication of peer evaluated papers in theme issues of Comparative American Studies (Sage Publications, U.K.), the Canadian Review of American Studies directed by Priscilla Walton (Carleton University, Ottawa), and in a thematic volume of the Collection des Amériques/Colección de las Américas/The Americas Series directed by Daniel Castillo Durante and Patrick Imbert. For this latter publication, articles will be limited to 12 pages double-spaced, including bibliography and footnotes. Texts can be in English or in French. Moreover, the Revista de Ciencias Sociales Iztapalapa (Universidad Metropolitana , Mexico) (n* 60)is going to publish conferences given during the IASA Congress. The texts have to be written in Spanish. The editors are: Irene Fonte de l'Universidad Metropolitana et Rodney Williamson de l'Université d'Ottawa, Department of Modern Languages.
